Frequently asked questionsWhat does training involve?
Depending on the course you are studying, you may be expected to:
Am I assessed?
On accredited training courses all assessments comply with Training Package requirements and may include observation, oral and written questioning, project work and both individual and group work tasks. Your trainer will inform you about how and when assessment will occur on your course.
On some Business Skills courses there is the option to formalise your learning through optional assessment tasks. An additional assessment fee of $200 applies. There is no assessment on IT courses. Is it possible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
On accredited courses it is possible to have knowledge and skills gained in other courses, life experience, work experience or training provided at work recognised.
By providing appropriate evidence, candidates are entitled to gain recognition of this prior learning, which exempts them from the equivalent training and assessment activities. RPL is granted for units of competency and for complete qualifications; it is not granted for partial units of competency. For details of how to apply for RPL contact 1800 727 640. An RPL fee applies - see our brochure for details. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), UNSW Global recognises the credentials issued by other RTOs. Can I get a refund?
All requests for refunds must be made in writing. Requests made more than 14 days prior to training commencement will receive a full refund of fees paid. Requests made within 14 days of training commencement will receive a refund of 50% of fees paid. If a participant fails to attend, no refund or transfer to another course will be made.
If we cancel a course, you will be notified by phone or in writing and a full refund will be given. What support services do you offer?
UNSW Global is committed to providing equal opportunity and promoting inclusion for all trainees. Trainees who have difficulty with basic literacy, numeracy, English language or other areas of learning should advise UNSW Global of their support needs prior to training. UNSW Global may provide support through UNSW Institute of Languages or referral to other agencies.
What should I do if I need to make a complaint?
UNSW Global is committed to a process of continuous improvement based on feedback from course participants, trainers and other stakeholders. We welcome comments which may help us to improve our services, products and processes. In some situations you may feel that you need to make a complaint. UNSW Global has a documented complaints process, outlined in the Trainee Handbook which clients receive prior to training.
